.SYNOPSIS...
Areas of low clouds west of the mountains this morning. Below
normal high temperatures will continue through the early part of
the week with gradual warming for the middle to end of the week.
The marine layer will become shallower for the middle to the end
of the upcoming week.

SAN DIEGO...WESTERN RIVERSIDE AND SOUTHWESTERN SAN BERNARDINO
COUNTIES...

Low clouds are much patchier this morning thanks to a weakened
marine inversion. The marine layer itself is still quite deep with
areas of clouds extending into the foothills of the mountains.
Given how thin and patchy the clouds are, they should clear out
pretty quickly this morning. Breezy west winds continue across the
mountains and deserts but will weaken through the morning,
briefing turning northerly before the sea breeze kicks in this
afternoon. Otherwise warmer today, though highs will still be
around 5-10 degrees below normal.

Not much change through Tuesday as upper level troughing remains
across the Western US. High temperatures will remain several
degrees below normal. Marine layer will be shallower with low
clouds generally confined to the coastal areas and western valleys
each night and morning.

The upper level low over the southwest begins to shift east on
Wednesday with lower amplitude troughing/weaker cyclonic flow over
our region into Friday. Ensembles are in generally good agreement
with upper level high pressure beginning to build in from the
southeast into next weekend. This will bring gradual warming for
the middle of the week into next weekend, as well as a shallower
marine layer with less extensive low clouds each night.

.AVIATION...
220915Z....Coast/Valleys/Coastal Mountain Slopes... Low clouds with
very patchy coverage remain in place across the coastal basin this
morning but coverage has been decreasing over the last few hours.
The best coverage currently is up against the coastal slopes and
across portions of coastal San Diego County. These clouds are based
around 2500-3000ft MSL and could sneak above 3000ft MSL at times. At
this point, prolonged CIGs at KSNA, KONT, and KSBD are unlikely but
an occasional BKN CIG is possible at times. This trend will spread
southward through KCRQ and KSAN by 12z this morning, with more FEW-
SCT coverage than not, but an occasional BKN CIG is still possible.
Any lingering clouds quickly burn off after sunrise, with full
clearing expected by 16z this morning, giving way to VFR conditions
for the remainder of the day. Low clouds look to eventually
redevelop across coastal San Diego County tonight, likely by 09z
Monday. Bases likely a bit lower than this morning, closer to 2000ft
MSL.

.Mountains/Deserts...Clear skies and largely unrestricted VIS
through Monday morning. Gusty west-northwesterly winds to 35-45 kts
continue in the mountain passes and locally in the deserts this
morning. Gusts 20-30 kts remain possible in the Coachella valley
through the next few hours until they eventually subside around 18z
late this morning. Moderate up/downdrafts in lee of
mountains/mountain passes as well as isolated BLDU in the desert
with VIS 3-5SM at times possible until the strong gusts subside.
Gusts near 20 kts possible again this afternoon/evening in the
Coachella Valley with the sea breeze push.
